Police: Convicted felon charged after attempting to rob Swansea fast food restaurant

SWANSEA, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Charges have been filed against a 47-year-old man accused of attempting to rob a Swansea, Illinois Jack in the Box over the weekend.

Around 7:18 a.m., Courtney P. Scott, who is a convicted felon, brought a loaded gun into the restaurant “in hopes of making some quick money,” according to Swansea Police Chief Steve Johnson.

Restaurant employees called police immediately to report the robbery, authorities said.

Scott is charged with armed robbery and felon in possession of a firearm. He is currently being held at the St. Clair County Jail on a $200,000 bond.

No one was hurt during the incident.
