ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- Three adults and four children were injured in an accident in north St. Louis Thursday afternoon. One of the injuries was fatal.

The two-vehicle accident happened near Fairground Park, around the area of Prairie and Kossuth, at 2:40 p.m. Thursday.

Police said the first vehicle, occupied by one driver, was traveling westbound on Fairgrounds Parkway at a high rate of speed. The driver, 26 year-old Devann Mosby, lost control of his vehicle and swerved into the eastbound lane. Mosby struck a second vehicle, occupied by six people. The second vehicle was parked.

Mosby was thrown from his vehicle. He was transported to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A witness told News 4 the driver of a vehicle was being shot at, so he was driving over the speed limit. Police have not confirmed that report.

All six occupants in the second vehicle were transported to the hospital. They include two adults, a 57 year-old man and a 32 year-old woman, and four children ages 4, 5, 7, and 8 years old. They are all listed in stable condition.

The investigation of the accident is ongoing.
