SOUTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -

A south St. Louis convenience store was shut down by authorities Tuesday following a search connected to a drug investigation.

Police say they executed a warrant and searched Arsenal Market, which is located near the intersection of Arsenal and Virginia. Officers say they found suspected drugs and drug paraphernalia, but did not specifically say what type of drugs were found.

Authorities have classified the case involving the market as a drug trafficking investigation.

Witnesses say they saw boxes being carried out by police but did not see anyone escorted out in handcuffs.

Building code officials later showed up to shut the store down.

Nearby residents say they have never suspected that any illegal activity has taken place at the store.
