ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- The Arizona Diamondbacks announced that baseball legend Joe Garagiola died on Wednesday.

The former St. Louis Cardinals catcher was 90 years old.

Garagiola played nine MLB seasons and was won a World Series championship with the Cardinals in 1946. He was a life-long friend of fellow-St. Louisan Yogi Berra. They both lived on the HIll as children.

Garagiloa was a broadcaster for the Arizona Diamondbacks from 1998-2012.
