Posted: Updated:

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- A lot of weather changes will arrive Thursday into Friday as a large storm system rolls through.

Scattered storms possible early Thursday morning across the area.  An isolated strong to severe storm is possible, although chances are low as the instability or storm fuel is low for our area. Current timing shows storms moving into our western counties after Midnight. Scattered rain and storms in the metro any time after 3 to 4 am.  Lingering showers and a few storms possible through the morning drive.

Temperatures will be mild in the morning from the 50s to near 60, but it will turn sharply colder dropping into the 40s during the mid to late afternoon. Winds will gust from 30-40 mph from the west to northwest.

A freeze watch has been issued for the western portion of the News4 coverage area Thursday night through 8a.m. Friday.  You may want to protect sensitive plants as temperatures are expected to drop into the upper 20s in outlying areas, with a low of 33 in St. Louis.
