It brings little comfort for the family of a woman found dead in Mexico, but her body is finally home in Missouri two weeks after her death.

“That's just her outer shell that's there. But even though I know she's in heaven, I miss her,” said Evalena Duncan, Turpin’s mother.

Tamra Turpin, 36, was found dead on March 2 while on vacation in Mexico, but it took the family two weeks to raise $8,000 to get Turpin's body flown into Lambert Airport Friday morning.

“We know that it’s her and she's back here, and she's going to be surrounded Sunday with loved ones,” said Duncan. “But I know she's really in heaven, looking down and seeing all the support.”

Turpin was staying with her boyfriend, 59-year-old John Loveless, at their condo in Playa Del Carmen, Mexico.

An autopsy later showed she'd been strangled to death.

Loveless was arrested at the Cancun Airport as he waited to board a flight to Atlanta, and has been ordered to stand trial in Mexico in August.

That’s a development that doesn't make much sense to Duncan, or her family, but she told News 4 they’re staying open minded.

“I pray that justice be done. If he did it, he did it. If he didn’t he didn’t.”
