BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

A rash of vandalism in different parts of Belleville, Illinois is leaving residents frustrated.

According to police reports, vandals have struck on six different streets in a five-day span. Vandalism has occurred on north 3rd and north High Streets, and on Iowa Avenue.

One resident of east C Street said vandals hit her home on March 13, doing damage to her light fixtures.

“They (the lights) were pulled off, so the wiring was exposed,” said Jo McCarthy.

The wires are capped until the lights are repaired, but McCarthy says it will be an expensive fix.

“It cost $150 for these lights,” said McCarthy.

McCarthy added that vandals threw bricks through car windows in the neighborhood a few years ago.  A neighbor of McCarthy said she wants to see more police patrols on C Street.

News 4 reached out to Belleville, Ill. police for a comment, but nobody with the department was available.
