ST. LOUIS, MO ( -- A downtown parking garage is making major security changes after sexual assaults at the garage and a subsequent News 4 investigation.

SP Plus, the company that operates the parking garage at 701 N. 7th Street confirms to  News 4 that new surveillance cameras have been installed in the garage. Also, the company has modified the security patrol schedule at the garage.

These changes come after two alleged sexual assaults at the garage, the first assault in 2014, the second in mid-February of 2016. At the time of the assaults, surveillance cameras throughout the garage were not operational.  The victim of the most recent attack told News 4:

“I blame the company for my attack because this was the same person that attacked the woman two years ago and had those cameras been functioning, he would have been caught then.”

News 4 visited the parking garage and saw the new surveillance cameras installed. Operational cameras are now in each elevator and outside the elevator doors on each level of the garage.
