SOUTH ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) -

Two teens were caught on camera destroying property and vandalizing Classic Car Wash in South County around 2:00 a.m. Sunday.

Classic Car Wash is located on Lemay Ferry Road. The teens were caught on sureveillance smashing out lights in the car wash bay.

“They came up here, they knocked down the clearance bar over the automatic bay and as you see in the video, they just smashed up the digital display inside,” said Classic Car Wash Owner Brian Joachimstaler. “I don’t think they picked it. I think they were just passing by and felt like tearing something up. That’s all.”

But it wasn’t just Joachimstaler’s business that was destroyed. They also went across the street and broke windows in the street center, he said.

In total, the damage costs about $4,000, but Joachimstaler says he has insurance to cover the costs. However, that’s not the point.

“I’d rather not have the insurance pay. I’d rather them pay,” he said. Police are expected to retrieve the surveillance video soon.

Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Louis County Police.
