ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Hundreds of people are going to have to change their bus route to work or school starting Monday, especially in North County, where the new transit center will open to the public.

Forty-eight routes will be changed across the St. Louis area, specifically in Ferguson where the new transit center will open. The center will house public restrooms, an inside waiting area and a café. The facility will help meet the needs of riders who work and live in North County.

The trips and commutes will be smaller in more efficient, but will have to be broken into separate routes instead of the large circular route in North County.

Another aspect of the design is security. Cameras cover every inch, both inside and out, plus security guards will be onsite 24 hours a day.

North County residents aren’t the only ones seeing major changes, the anticipated expansion of services in West County, the Metro route to the Wildwood campus of St. Louis Community College, also starts Monday.
