HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

The Hazelwood School District announced the departure of Dwight Lindhorst, assistant superintendent for finance and facilities, effective June 30. Lindhorst accepted the position of chief financial officer for the Ritenour School District.

“Dwight has truly been an asset to the Hazelwood School District and our community for 20 years,” said interim superintendent Dr. Ingrid Clark-Jackson. “I thank him for his leadership and expertise; he has been invaluable to our district. We are sorry to see him leave, but we wish him well as he begins a new chapter.”

Lindhorst has been on the HSD administrative team for 20 years. During his time on staff, he as been responsible for the annual $200 million operating budget. He started at Hazelwood at the director of accounting and finance in 1996.

“I definitely have mixed emotions about leaving Hazelwood,” said Lindhorst. “I have had the privilege of working with a wonderful group of dedicated individuals who care about children first.  I look forward to new challenges in this great opportunity.  I just felt it was time for a change and was the best decision for my family and me.  I truly wish HSD the best of luck in the future. The most important task for the district is to balance the operating budget while continuing the outstanding instructional programs the district offers. I hope the district continues its success with a fresh start.”

Kimberly McKenzie, the district's spokesperson, told News 4 Lindhorst's departure has nothing to do with the district's budget crisis, but is an opportunity his family and for the district to bring in a new perspective.

The Hazelwood School District will immediately begin the process of filling the vacancy.
