COLLINSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -

Five days ahead of the Missouri and Illinois Presidential Primaries, Reverend Rafael Cruz was at the Revive Church in Collinsville, Illinois campaigning for his son Ted.

Rev. Cruz used the opportunity to deliver a religiously charged speech and cited scripture as a guide for choosing a presidential candidate.

“Stop listening to their rhetoric and start looking at their record,” said Rev. Cruz.

Many in attendance said they have already decided to vote for Senator Cruz on March 15, with one person saying Donald Trump is unacceptable as the Republican nominee.

“I think he’s the most conservative candidate and I think he can beat Hillary,” said one attendee.

“I support him because he’s a conservative and I’m a Christian conservative and I agree with his views,” another attendee said. “I think Trump switched over. He’s a Democrat pretending to be a Republican.”

Rev. Cruz did not mention Trump by name, but said Republican primary voters must make the right selection during the primary season.
