Police: Teens responsible for recent crimes in U City are from East St. Louis

UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Police believe suspects wanted in a carjacking and car break-ins in University City are coming over from East St. Louis.

According to police, two people were carjacked when they parked in front of their home on Waterman near Big Bend around 8:15 p.m. Tuesday. Only blocks away, seven cars were broken into.

The car stolen by two teens was later found in East St. Louis by police. Authorities said four teens ran from the area where the car was located. Officers said they are still searching for the suspects.

As a result of the crimes, University City police are stepping up patrols on MetroLink stations.
