Group heading to Jefferson City in attempt to block medical marijuana legalization bill

Posted: Updated:

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A local group wants to block a bill that would legalize medical marijuana in Missouri.

The Keeping Kids Safe Coalition is made up of parents, medical professionals and law enforcement who are warning people of the dangers of marijuana.

The group wants to block the legalization bill before it moves beyond the Missouri House.

The group will hold a press conference in Jefferson City Wednesday morning to share data that suggests marijuana poses some serious health risks. They claim legalizing marijuana targets children and increases crime.

In Jefferson City, members of the group will be on hand to answer questions to help people understand the dangers of the drug. They say people don’t what they’re getting when they purchase marijuana, especially edibles, which can be laced with three to 20 times the THC concentration recommended for intoxication.

The group’s press conference is scheduled to begin at 9:30 a.m. at the Missouri State Capital.
