ST. LOUIS, Mo (KMOV.com) - After viewer complaints led to a News 4 undercover investigation, a federal judge shut down Critique Services Friday.

The move comes only days after Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster criticized the business, which is accused of not delivering on its promises to customers.

The Missouri Attorney General's office issued a scathing 30-page report saying the company committed fraud, and its owner, employees, and attorneys have been repeatedly exploiting vulnerable people.  According to the report, the victim tally is nearly 140 people and growing.

Critique Services offered to help customers file for bankruptcy without actually providing any results.

A judge has suspended Critique's lawyers for falsifying documents and lying to their clients, but Critique Services continued to operate business as usual.

Some say the bad business practices go back many years and they have been sued by the Attorney General's office before.  With the latest report, the office is putting its foot down saying the deception and bad business practices must stop.

Critique's lawyer says he has not seen the suit and does not have a comment.

For anyone that has been harmed by Critique Services, the Attorney General's office wants to hear from you.  News 4 Investigates will continue to follow any developments in this story.
