ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) – As heavy rain is predicted to move through the St. Louis area, a Flash Flood Watch has a lot of people concerned because they are still recovering from the devastating flooding in late 2015.

Even though the St. Louis area is not supposed to see anything even close to what was accumulated in late 2015, the predicted flood threat has a lot of people concerned.

Betty Bone is a Pontoon Beach, Illinois resident and she says she worries about how much rain will come to her area.

“We heard all this rain is coming again. We were kind of getting things put up,” said Bone.

Bone says since she lives at the lowest point in her mobile home park, she is almost sure her streets are going to flood. Bone says she has already started putting things up on shelves in her garage.

“We just have to keep our eyes open, listen and take care of what we've got,” said Bone.

Other residents who live in Pontoon Beach says it is clear their area floods all of the time.

Sandbags are still sitting on the front yards in Pontoon Beach, Ill. Other debris is also scattered. It is a raw reminder of what these residents have to deal with when flooding occurs.

Robert Ehance, another resident of Pontoon Beach, says he has not done anything yet to prepare, but he says he keeps a very close eye on what the water does to his home and community.

“Sometimes it backs up our sewers and you’re driving in maybe three or four inches,” said Ehance.

With the rain expected and the ground in some areas still saturated, some residents could be seeing swollen streams, increasing the chance of flash flooding.
