SLPS pushing levy to pay for alternative education programs

Posted: Updated:
ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Leaders in the St. Louis Public Schools are hoping voters will support a tax levy to fund alternative education programs and an early childhood development center.

The proposal calls for a 75 cent property tax levy. The district currently receives funding from the federal and state government, but money for the program is about to run out. The district believe it will bring in $27 million each year.

The tax levy will be on the April 5 ballot.
