ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

The Missouri Department of Transportation (MODOT) will be available to speak with the public about an upcoming project in south St. Louis.

MODOT plans completely replace the driving surface of the S Grand Avenue Bridge and raise it. This undertaking will be done to meet interstate standards. The bridge will be completed in stages, and only one lane will be open, in each direction, on S Grand Avenue.

The project calls for several lane closures and turn restrictions, which could be a major hassle to drivers. So, MODOT wants to hear from drivers before the construction begins.

MODOT will hold an open house from 4-6:30 p.m. at the St. Louis County Public Library on S Grand Avenue, where the project will be explained in full. This open house will also allow the public to talk with engineers.

Construction for the bridge will begin in June. The project is expected to be complete by the end of the year.
