UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A restaurant featuring topless, body painted waitresses opened in the Delmar Loop Friday despite opposition from some residents and city officials.

Social House opened its doors Friday despite strong opposition from nearby residents, business owners and elected officials. University City officials have been looking into possible ordinance changes that would make it tough for Social House to open or stay in business.

People who spoke to News 4 Friday said the establishment is clearly a place for adults and nobody is being forced to go.

Social House already has a location in Soulard.

It occupies a building previously occupied by the Market Pub House, another restaurant. The operator of Market Pub House is also connected to Social House. The owner of the building has said he will not renew the lease of restaurant owner when it expires in March, 2017.
