ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Fathers who have lost a child to violence will come together from across the country to share their stories this weekend.

Friday, Jamyla Bolden’s father, James, will come together with other men who have lost a child to violence. Some of the father’s lost their children to officer-involved shootings.

Many of the fathers are from the St. Louis area, but some are traveling from Chicago, New York and Florida.

The Michael Brown Chosen for Change foundation is hosting the event, titled “Testimonies of Love, Loss, and Legacy.” During the event, the panel will share their stories about coping with the loss of a child. The fathers want to show others how it’s affected them and how they have moved forward.

“We have a lot of fathers out here who are hurting so the chosen for change.org opened the door for me to stand on a platform with 11 other men across the country to talk about our stories, our testimonies, what we’ve done to deal with the situation,” Bolden said.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. Friday at Eden’s Seminary in Webster Groves.
