NORTH ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A local daycare that was shut down by the state of Missouri after a 3-year-old was left on a bus for hours alone is trying to reopen.

In February, the GSL Developmental Center was being forced to close its doors.

State officials say GSL has appealed the immediate suspension of their license. A hearing has been held and a decision on the appeal will be made by a hearing officer.

The family of the 3-year-old victim, Dallas, says even a month after the incident, Dallas is having a tough time after being left alone on a daycare bus for seven hours.

Dallas’ grandmother, Shanica Jones, said, “He's been scared to be by himself, it's like he wants somebody around him at all times. At night time he still wakes up having nightmares and he still brings up that day.”

The family says their focus is making Dallas feel like he is safe and not alone.

The family also says they found another daycare for Dallas and received money back from GSL that they had already paid in tuition.

Jones says she hopes the state will stick with their decision of shutting down GSL. Jones also mentions she has not received an apology from the daycare.

GSL has not commented on the situation.
