(HockeyStL) -- Three St. Louis Blues players are among the initial 16-man rosters for each team playing in the 2016 World Cup of Hockey, the NHL announced Wednesday.
Alexander Steen (Team Sweden), Vladimir Tarasenko (Team Russia) and Jori Lehtera (Team Finland) will represent their countries in the tournament which will run from September 17th through October 1st, 2016 in Toronto.
Tarasenko, 24, the Yaroslavl native has played for Russia 10 times earning three medals in international play - two silvers and one gold. He leads his St. Louis club with 30 goals and 25 assists.
Lehtera has represented Team Finland nine time in his career winning a silver medal in the 2014 World Champions and a bronze medal in the 2014 Olympic games. The Helsinki native has appeared in 63 games for the Blues tallying seven goals and 20 assists.
Additionally, former Blues T.J. Oshie (Team USA) and Vladimir Sobotka (Team Czech Republic) while St. Louis native and Tampa Bay goaltender Ben Bishop will also play on Team USA.
The remaining seven roster spots for each team will be announced no later than June 1st. All games will be broadcast on ESPN.
