WILDWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Wildwood is receiving national attention after a fantasy news site posted that Justin Bieber was moving to the area.

The McKenzie Post posted on its website Tuesday that the pop star had purchased a home in the area.

“’I want a farm, I want cows, I want chickens!’ Justin excitedly told Us Weekly.  ‘I’m not giving up my career, I just want to move to a place that feels so different than what I’ve been used to the last several years of my life.  For me, that place is Wildwood,’” the article read.

A day after the website posted the false story, the city issued a press release regarding the recent attention the article brought to Wildwood.

“Certainly, Justin Bieber is always welcome to make an appearance at one of our events.” said Mayor Tim Woerther. “In fact, we’re still looking for a headline music act for the annual Celebrate Wildwood event this August!”

In the release, Mayor Woerther also said that one of his daughter’s was disappointed to find out the story was not true.
