HAZELWOOD, Mo. (KMOV.com) – The Hazelwood School District has changed the location of its Tuesday night Board of Education meeting to accommodate more attendees.

The district changed the meeting location to ECE East Early Childhood Center in unincorporated St. Louis County, located in the 1200 block of Partridge Run, so there would be more room available. Parents were spilling into the hallways because there was not enough room for the estimated 500 attendees at the last meeting.

The district recently voted to make cuts to the music and gym programs and cut more than 25 positions before next school year.

The hiring and firing of teachers will be the main focus of Tuesday night’s meeting. The cuts could slash millions of dollars from the district’s $15 million budget shortfall, but parents have told News 4 the cuts are a mistake.

Tuesday’s meeting will start at 5:30 p.m.
