TRENTON, Il. KMOV.com) -- Crews responded to the scene of a 3-alarm fire after the Dollar General in Trenton, Illinois became engulfed in flames Sunday afternoon.

The fire broke out around 1:00 p.m, but took crews three hours to put it out. No injuries were reported. The store is located in the 500 block of East Broadway.

"We saw some embers flying by and smelled smoke and thought 'Who is burning something on a windy day like this?' so we decided to go around the side and check it out and saw the boxes attached to the building were on fire," said Rob Jervais, a customer at the store at the time of the fire. "I called 911 and my wife went inside and told everyone to get out."

Steve Davis, Chief of the Sugar Creek Fire Department, said once crews were alerted, they immediately set up trucks across the street to protect all the facilities across the street as well.

The cause of the fire is still unknown at this time.
