The building next to Troy Buchanan High School which was destroyed by fire Saturday evening was built completely by volunteers in 2010.  All the money used for the project was donated.  School officials say there are a lot of heavy hearts because of what it meant to the area.

No one was injured in the fire.

Investigators say a driver noticed smoke from the highway around six o’clock Saturday evening and called 911.  By the time firefighters reached the scene the building was already fully involved. Concessions, some weight training and locker rooms made up the contents of the 7800 square foot structure.

A couple physical education classes were held there and will now have to relocate somewhere else. There might be enough room inside the main building at Troy Buchanan to hold them.

“We are a very resourceful district so when we face obstacles like this we will always find a way,” Lincoln County School District’s April Bryant said. “We really come together as a community and our faculty and staff come together.  I’m sure we’ll find space within our building.  Hopefully it’s nice out next week and we can take advantage of some nice weather.”
