Experts warn public of dangers of AFIB

Posted: Updated:

(KMOV.com) – Doctors are warning the public about the dangers of atrial fibrillation (AFIB).

The condition causes a person’s heart to beat of rhythm and may potentially form a clot which can travel to the brain, causing a stroke.

AFIB can increase the risk of a stroke by 500 percent, doctors say. However, doctors believe four out of five AFIB related strokes can be prevented because many tests detect it and drugs are available to help control it.

Many newer drugs are on the horizon that may have fewer complications.
