ST. LOUIS COUNTY (KMOV.com) – A St. Louis County officer was honored for saving a woman and her children from a burning home.

Officer Andrew Kelley saved a woman and her four sleeping children who were inside a home near the intersection of Lillian and Hodiamont when it caught fire July 25, 2015.

While on duty, the Jennings precinct officer saw a large cloud of smoke and, after noticing a vehicle parked in the home’s driveway, knocked and announced himself before entering the residence, which was quickly filling with smoke. When Officer Kelley found the home's owner outside of her bedroom, she told him of her sleeping children before exiting the residence.

Once Kelley located the children in a bedroom, he carried three of them and escorted the fourth to safety.
