ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A woman was arrested in last June for allegedly stealing her car back after it had been repossessed.

Melanie Dunn, 23, of St. Louis, allegedly stole back her 2001 Pontiac Bonneville from Auto Buy Credit, 10250 West Florissant in Dellwood in April 2015. In the probable cause statement, it says that the car was recovered several weeks later in St. Louis city following an accident. The defendant was the driver at the time of the accident.

After police brought her in for questioning, the report states that Dunn confessed to St. Louis County police that she had a plan to reacquire the car after it was repossessed. She said she still had a set of keys for the car and after tracking down the car, had her sister's boyfriend help her steal it. She didn't identify the boyfriend.

She gave the keys to the boyfriend and told him where the car was being held. After a few days, he brought her back the car. She continued to drive it until the accident.

Dunn is being charged with one count of stealing a motor vehicle, a class C felony. Her bond is set at $10,000.
