FENTON (KMOV.com) - A mother is facing charges for allegedly shoplifting at a St. Louis County Walmart with her 3-year-old in tow.

Nichole Brandle, was issued a summons in lieu for stealing and child endangerment.

St. Louis County police said on February 21, Brandle attempted to steal $130 worth of items from the Walmart in the Gravois Bluffs Shopping Center in Fenton

As she was leaving the store, a Walmart employee confronted Brandle and a struggle ensued.

A video shot by a Walmart customer captured the struggle. According to police, Brandle eventually let go of the bags, grabbed her daughter and continued to walk out of the store.

“As a mother, I would never do something like that, I work hard for my money,” said Jessica Taylor, a Walmart shopper. “People who are just out there to steal stuff, especially with your kid, that's just ridiculous.”

According to authorities, Brandle was issued a summons by St. Louis County Police after leaving the store.

News 4 reached out to Walmart to get a statement about the incident:

"We have specific security measures in place to ensure the safety of our customers and associates,” said Aaron Mullins with Walmart Media Relations. “This situation is being reviewed by management and addressed with the associates involved."

After the incident, authorities said the child was released to her father and officers contacted the Division of Family Services.
