ST. LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

Agents with the United States Marshall Service, along with detectives from the St. Louis County Police Department allegedly took fire from a man on his porch in the 1900 block of Larch while attempting to pursue a different suspect at 6:15 a.m. Wednesday.

Police say that they were originally conducting an investigation into a suspect for distribution of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and outstanding warrants from St. Louis County in the 7200 block of Teal. As the officers arrived, that suspect exited his home and ran. Officers followed the suspect to 1900 block of Larch in a foot pursuit.

That's when police say they heard two gunshots go off, not from the suspect they were attempting to capture. Agents observed the man standing on his front porch and identified themselves as law enforcement. The male shot three more times at the agents. No officers were struck or return fire.

Police lost their original suspect in the pursuit.

The St. Louis County Police Department's Central County Precinct was notified and requested to assist. Officers surrounded the residence, with the man that allegedly fired shots near officers. An officer made contact over the phone with the alleged suspect, Phillip Davis, after finding his home phone number. Davis eventually walked out of his home and taken into custody.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney's Office issued charges on Phillip Davis, 63, of the 1900 block of Larch Drive, for five counts of assault/attempt of assault on law enforcement officer, seven counts of armed criminal action and two counts for first degree assault on law enforcement officer.

Davis is being held on $250,000 cash bond.
