UNIVERSITY CITY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- The University City Council passed an ordinance disapproving of the opening of a restaurant in the Delmar Loop that uses topless waitresses who wear body paint.

The owner of Market Pub House said he wants to bring Social House, a restaurant that already has a location in Soulard, to the location of Market Pub House.

Many residents have voiced opposition to the idea. The building’s owner said he would not renew the restaurant operator’s lease beyond March 2017 if Social House opened in the building.

Monday night, University City elected officials made clear they do not approve of Social House coming to the Delmar Loop. The town’s city manager said officials may change ordinances making it tough for the operator of a restaurant like Social House to get the necessary permits to open.
