ST. LOUIS - The string of bad luck continues to haunt the Blues as goaltender Brian Elliott exited Monday night’s game against the Sharks in the first period with a lower-body.
“We have a day off tomorrow. We'll have further evaluation on Brian. If Brian can't go then it's Jake's turn now,” Ken Hitchcock said in his post game press conference.
With the Blues fighting a 5-minute major incurred by Ryan Reaves and down two goals, Elliott went down to his knees. He fell backwards trying to keep the puck from squeezing through his legs when his right knee appeared to give way. Elliott skated off the ice and to the locker room throwing Jake Allen, who returned from IR Sunday, between the pipes.
“It’s sort of tough,” Allen described. “I haven’t played in a month and a half. For me it’s short notice to get up to game speed.”

Allen faced 17 shots and allowed two goals in relief.
The injury to Elliott is just the latest misfortune to befall an already ramshackle locker room.
“It’s getting a bit old,” Allen admitted, “but we really have no control over it. It’s unfortunate that we don’t. I’m not sure exactly what the problem is with Brian, but hopefully it’s very minor and nothing crazy.”
The Blues don’t play again until Thursday when they take on the Rangers at Scottrade.
