East St. Louis officer transported after stolen vehicle crashed into squad car

EAST ST. LOUIS, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A stolen vehicle crashed into an East St. Louis squad car Sunday night.

A 2010 Lexus that was being driven by an 18-year-old man failed to stop at the intersection of North 42nd and Caseyville around 9:45 p.m., according to police. After failing to stop, the stolen vehicle struck the front end of the squad car.

The 2010 Lexus was reported stolen out of Missouri, police said.

The front ends of both vehicles sustained damage in the crash.

The officer was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to officials.The driver of the Lexus, along with four passengers sustained non-life threatening injuries in the crash.
