GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- A Madison, Illinois man pleaded guilty Friday for his role in an April, 2015 fatal hit-and-run crash in Granite City.

Travis Crain, 24, pleaded guilty to one count of failure to report an accident involving personal injury or death inside an Edwardsville courtroom Friday.

State's Attorney Tom Gibbons said Crain was texting while driving in the early-morning hours of April 19, 2015 when he struck Mark Harris, 25, of St. Louis. Harris' body was found several hours later lying on the side of the road. An investigation led officers to Crain, who was charged three days later.

Crain is facing a possible sentence from probation to 8 years in prison.
