St. Louis-bound Amtrak crashes outside of Chicago; no injuries

ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV.com) -- An Amtrak train traveling from Chicago to St. Louis crashed Friday morning near Joliet, Illinois.

According to NBC 5, the Amtrak train, Lincoln Service 303, grazed the back of a semi-truck around 10:30 a.m. The train had 1,440 passengers at the time of the crash.

An Amtrak spokesman said there were no injuries. Passengers on the train were offered to take a bus the rest of the way or head back to Chicago to wait for a later train to St. Louis. 

Amtrak officials said the drop gates and bells were operating at the time of the crash.
