ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A St. Louis chocolate business is helping an amazing group of people by hiring them to work in their factory.

Dan Abel Jr. is the co-owner of the family-owned company Chocolate Chocolate Chocolate, which is famous for its chocolate covered strawberries.

The company has partnered with MERS Goodwill for a program called “The Sheltered Workshop.”

“This program is for adults 18 to 55 that have a developmental disability, and they come to us through VOC Rehab,” said Carol Miler, the program’s assistant director.

The workshop then trains the adults and gets them jobs with a supervisor to help them improve their work skills.

“The team that comes in everyday with the supervisors is always so nice and everyone’s so happy to be here and everyone’s smiling,” Abel said. “So it brings a lot of positive atmosphere into the packaging department.

“They love working at the chocolate factory,’ said Miller.

“Part of our culture is working with community programs like Goodwill, and I think it does as much for us as we do for them, Abel said.
