O'FALLON, Mo. (KMOV.com) - A suspect has been arrested in connection with the stabbing of a teen in O'Fallon, Mo.

Around 6 p.m., a 13-year-old boy was outside playing football with friends in the 100 block of Oakfield Drive in the Pin Oak Mobile Home Park when a stranger approached him and allegedly stabbed him in the neck, police said. Authorities said the object struck the victim' spinal structure

"He [the victim] was like, 'I don't want to die. Why'd you hit me?' And then he [the victim] was like, 'oh crap. I'm bleeding.' And I was like, 'dude, you just got stabbed in the neck.' And we ran and he [the victim] was like, 'I'm too young to die,' and crying screaming. and I was like, 'calm down. You are not going to die.' And we did as much as we could and the cops came and took him away," said one of the teen’s friends.

Neighbors said the teen was rushed to the hospital after being stabbed. Doctors think the victim may have suffered nerve damage.

After stabbing the teenager, the suspect, later identified as James Mann, 31, of O'Fallon, Illinois, allegedly ran from the scene. The boys told police Mann may have been on drugs or drunk when the incident occurred.

Mann has been charged with assault in the first degree and armed criminal action. His bond is set at $250,000.
