O'Fallon, Ill. woman order to pay over $34,000 restitution in healthcare fraud case

O’FALLON, Ill. (KMOV.com) – An O’Fallon, Illinois woman was ordered to pay restitution and placed on probation after being convicted of healthcare fraud.

According to court records, between June 30, 2013 and April 30, 2015 Ann Marie Sheppard, 55, billed the Home Services Program, a Medicaid Waiver Program designed to keep individuals in their homes instead of a nursing home, for personal assistant services she did not provide.  

Court records state Sheppard was in Costa Rica and on a cruise at times she said she was providing services.

Sheppard was order to pay $34,168.33 in restitution to the company and a $300 special assessment. She was also sentenced to five years of probation with the first six months to be served in home detention.
