WASHINGTON PARK, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- An IDOT worker and a stranded motorist were struck by a vehicle Wednesday at the intersection of Interstate 64 and Illinois Route 111.

According to police officials, the worker was standing on the off ramp for I-64 next to a driver who was having their car pulled from a ditch.

Another vehicle was driving on the off ramp when they lost control around the curve and struck both the worker and stranded pedestrian.

An Illinois State Police spokesperson said both people were transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
