EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Authorities are looking for three men accused of breaking into cars in Edwardsville.

Surveillance footage captured the suspects scoping out vehicles in a Planet Fitness parking lot.

Katherine Gvillo, victim of a Planet Fitness car break-in said, “I turned to back out and I noticed that my window was busted out. Just like that, ‘oh my gosh. My purse is still in the van.’ I reached where I always store it and it wasn’t there.”

Monday, police said the same men smashed three other vehicle windows and stole items from cars parked at the fitness center’s lot.

Jay Keevan, Chief of Edwardsville Police Department said, “Lock your valuables in a position where they’re not visible to people passing your vehicle. If you can, take your valuables with you when you exit your vehicle.”

Gvillo said she will take Keevan’s advice whenever she comes back to the Plant Fitness or goes anywhere else.

Police are warning everyone to not leave items like laptops, phones, and purses in vehicles.

Anyone with information regarding the crimes should call the Edwardsville Police Department.
