Slick roads, snow causing delays, closures on St. Louis-area roads

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Snow and ice are causing delays and crashes across St. Louis-area roads Tuesday morning.

Around 9:30 a.m. a crash caused lane closures along eastbound Interstate 70 at Mid Rivers. 

Traffic was backed up on southbound Interstate 55 for traffic Coming into downtown St. Louis before 7:40 a.m. 

The westbound lanes of Interstate 144 were closed before Washington Avenue around 7:35 a.m. 

All lanes of southbound Interstate 255 at Illinois 15 were closed at 7:20 a.m.

Just before 7 a.m., delays of up to an hour were seen on Interstate 40/64 from Wentzville into downtown St. Louis. 

Around 6:50 a.m., crews closed the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 at Shreve. Traffic was moving along the interstate around 7:10 a.m., but there were still lane closures. 

At 6:45 a.m., emergency crews were called following a crash on northbound Route 141 at Big Bend. 

A crash is causing delays on I-270 southbound south of Dorestt in the Maryland Heights area. 

At 6:35 a.m., delays were seen on eastbound Interstate 40 at Clayton. 

Drivers were reporting the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 heading into downtown St. Louis were a "sheet of ice," according to News 4 traffic reporter Laura Hettiger. 

Around 6:20 a.m., Traffic was moving around 6 miles per hour with delays of 30 minutes on westbound Interstate 70 near Bryan.

At 6:15 a.m., a crash was causing delays on northbound Interstate 55 heading into the depressed section. 

A crash closed lanes of westbound Interstate 270 pat West Florissant shortly before 6 a.m. The crash was cleared shortly after 6:30 a.m., but traffic was slowly moving slowly throughout the area. 

One left lane of eastbound Interstate 270 at Elizabeth was closed around 5:55 a.m. The Missouri Department of Transportation said the crash was cleared at 6:18 a.m., but there were still delays in the area. 

Roughly five minutes later, another collision closed two right lanes of westbound Interstate 44 at Route 141.

Around 5:45 a.m., a two-vehicle collision closed two left lanes of northbound Interstate 55 at Loughborough.
