CASEYVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) – Caseyville police are searching for a white SUV after it rammed through a resident’s fence and destroyed a mailbox on Hill Road off South Main Street Monday.

The driver didn't hit the house, but the car came just inches from Stephen Longhibler and his wife.

“We were watching TV and heard it,” Longhibler said. “The whole house shook. And we thought someone hit the house.”

They were sitting in the home’s front room when it happened, and the flying mailbox actually hit the front door it was rammed so hard.

Longhibler’s surveillance cameras caught it all on tape, but he says it’s not the first time it happened. After 32 years in his house, he said the exact situation has happened three or four times prior and he wants something done. His road is an easy way to get from Caseyville to Fairview Heights, so it sees quite a bit of drivers; many of them speeding.

“I'm not sure what the solution is, but it's 25 mph through here and they usually do 50 more,” Longhibler said.

Police are searching for the white SUV. If anyone has information that can help the investigation, they are encouraged to call Caseyville PD.
