JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. (KMOV.com) -

A special gift card to the Build a Bear store was stolen from a Jefferson County woman’s wallet after she left it at a store.

Jennifer Hanak recently stopped by Ingram’s Market in Mapaville to buy something. She told News 4 she was distracted by a cell phone call and didn’t realize she left something behind at the store.

“I get in my car and I’m driving and I realize my wallet. So I turn around and at the intersection of A and Z. When I got back to the store, it was gone,” said Hanak.

Surveillance cameras were rolling when a woman came in behind Hanak, took her wallet off the counter, put it in her coat and left.

Hanak says the thief took $340 in cash and several gift cards, including a special gift card to the Build a Bear store.

The gift card means a lot to her because her daughter was born with a missing heart valve. She later underwent open heart surgery when she was 5-months-old.

“You stick a special heart inside when you make the bear,” said Hanak. “My daughter was too young to do it and now she’s going to be three next month and I thought it maybe it was perfect timing to make a bear and stick her own heart in there.”

The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department told news 4 they have identified a person of interest and trying to track her down.
