ST. LOUIS - The St. Louis defensive core took a big blow in Saturday night's game against the Wild when blue-liner Alex Pietrangelo limped off the ice following a hit into the board.
Replay of the hit shows the 26-year-old defender taking the brunt of the hit on his right knee after colliding with Minnesota's Charlie Coyle. Trainer Ray Barile assisted Pietrangelo off the ice and into the locker room. He did not return.
Assistant Coach Brad Shaw, who addressed the media in Ken Hitchcock's place, said the Note's top defenseman felt a little sore and will be evaluated Sunday.
Pietrangelo played almost 22 minutes before leaving with 7:20 remaining in the third. He has three goals and 20 assists this season.
