ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – Super Bowl weekend is the biggest weekend for sex trafficking.

Advocates for victims of sex trafficking told News 4 each year the demand for prostitutes spikes during Super Bowl weekend. The demand is reportedly so high that girls are being forced into the business. The girls are then brought to the location of the big game or to parties across the country.

There are currently around 200,000 girls at risk for sex trafficking in North America. Many of the girls are underage runaways, including some from the St. Louis region.

“Talk about social media safety because that’s really the lure for this and just watch for the signs that something is going on with their kids”, said Amanda Colegrove, who is with the Coalition Against Trafficking and Exploitation.

Girls are not the only victims of sex trafficking, boys are also targeted.
