FENTON (KMOV.com) -

A Fenton man is facing charges for allegedly stealing a boa constrictor from a local pet store.

Marshall Parsons, 20, is charged with one count of stealing an animal. Parsons allegedly stole a rainbow boa constrictor from a pet store.

Someone connected to store posted surveillance photos of Parsons carrying out the theft on the store’s Facebook page, police said. The store then received tips from people identifying Parsons as the alleged thief.

Parsons later admitted to crime, police said. He disabled the lock on the snake’s case using a screwdriver and hid the snake inside his jacket, according to police.

He told officers he eventually lost the snake while at a Lowe’s store in Festus.
