Crews repairing sewer main break near Chesterfield-Maryland Heights line

Posted: Updated:

MSD crews are repairing an underground sewer main break near the Maryland Heights-Chesterfield line.

The break, which happened at 673 Water Works Road in Chesterfield, was reported to MSD Tuesday afternoon. MSD believes it happened while crews were working to construct a new sewer main alongside the current one.

Some pump stations will be shut down Tuesday evening to allow for repairs. Affected areas may include:

  • Caulks Creek near the intersection of Crystal Spring Drive and Brighthurst Drive in Chesterfield
  •         Portions of the walk/bike trail that runs along the Monarch Chesterfield levee south of Chesterfield Commons
  •         Other portions of Caulks Creek
  •         Portions of Bonhomme Creek

MSD does not believe there is a threat to public health or safety, but if you come in contact with water in any of the affected creeks, please wash thoroughly with soap and water.

Sewer service to nearby homes and businesses will not be affected, MSD said. It is not clear when repairs will be completed.
