ALTON, Ill. (KMOV.com) – A groundhog in Alton, Illinois will help predict whether spring will arrive early this year.

Murray resides at the TreeHouse Wildlife Center and will help forecast when spring will arrive in the area.

“The CVB is constantly teased about our inability to forecast the weather. So we thought we would try to get our information first-hand from a more informed source, Murray the Groundhog,” said Brett Stawar, President and CEO of the Alton Regional Convention and Visitors Bureau.

Murray will be at the Alton Visitor Center at 200 Piasa Street at 9 a.m. to make his prediction.
