Suspected car thief shot by vehicle's owner at north St. Louis gas station

ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) – A suspected car thief was shot by the vehicle’s owner at a North City gas station Sunday morning.

Around 10 a.m., police were called to the 2700 block of North Florissant where they found a 24-year-old man with gunshot wounds to his arm, ankle and back.

While police were investigating the shooting, they were approached by a 22-year-old man who said he was at the Crown Mart in the 1520 block of North 13th when he was approached by the 24-year-old who then stole his vehicle. While the man was driving away with the stolen vehicle, the 22-year-old fired gunshots, which hit the driver.

The 24-year-old was found to be in possession of suspected narcotics, police said. Suspected narcotics were also found inside the stolen vehicle.

The investigation is ongoing.
